Mayra Alejandra Arroyo

With all the pain in our hearts we announce that Mayra Alejandra Arroyo, age 29, passed away on May 17, 2026, in Chicago Illinois. She was born and raised in Chicago Illinois to parents Victor Arroyo and Gelacia Alavez.

Mayra worked at her local Target for the past 4 years. She loved her job and her coworkers who became some of her closest friends. Mayra loved reading, writing, going to museums, building Lego sets, watching movies/tv shows, listening to music, learning other languages and spending time with family and friends. Mayra was incredibly sweet, caring, and a funny person. She would be the light in the darkest moments. She will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness. Her laughter and smile were gift to everyone who knew her.

Mayra was preceded in death by her father Victor Arroyo. She is survived by her mother Gelacia Alavez, her sisters Sandra Sanchez and Estefany Arroyo and her nephews Ericel Sanchez and Uziel Sanchez-Fernandez. She is also survived by her beloved dog Maggie.

Mayra’s wake will be on Friday May 29th from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Fullerton Funeral Home & Cremation Services located at 5735 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60639.

The funeral will be on Saturday May 30th starting at 10:00am at St James The Apostle Catholic Church located at 5730 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60639. From there the burial will be at Mary Hill Cemetery 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714.

We are asking everyone to please wear white or peach as that was Mayra’s favorite color.


Con profundo dolor en nuestros corazones, anunciamos que Mayra Alejandra Arroyo, de 29 años de edad, falleció el 17 de mayo de 2026 en Chicago, Illinois. Nació y creció en Chicago, Illinois, hija de Victor Arroyo y Gelacia Alavez.

Mayra trabajó en su tienda Target local durante los últimos 4 años. Amaba su trabajo y a sus compañeros, quienes se convirtieron en algunos de sus amigos más cercanos. A Mayra le encantaba leer, escribir, visitar museos, armar sets de Lego, ver películas y programas de televisión, escuchar música, aprender otros idiomas y pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos. Mayra era una persona increíblemente dulce, atenta y divertida; solía ser la luz en los momentos más oscuros. Será recordada por su bondad y consideración. Su risa y su sonrisa eran un regalo para todos los que la conocieron.

A Mayra le precedió en la muerte su padre, Victor Arroyo. Le sobreviven su madre, Gelacia Alavez; sus hermanas, Sandra Sanchez y Estefany Arroyo; y sus sobrinos, Ericel Sanchez y Uziel Sanchez-Fernandez. También le sobrevive su amada perrita, Maggie.

El velorio de Mayra se llevará a cabo el viernes 29 de mayo, de 4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m., en la Fullerton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, ubicada en 5735 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60639.

El funeral tendrá lugar el sábado 30 de mayo, comenzando a las 10:00 a. m., en la Iglesia Católica St. James The Apostle, ubicada en 5730 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60639.
